Platform Performance
Our Story
SpotCast was born from a simple observation: Akkar — a region of 300,000 people in North Lebanon — had almost no independent media representation. In 2022, we decided to change that.
We built a volunteer journalist network, opened a community studio in Braqayel, and started telling the stories that nobody else was telling — social issues, environmental threats, youth voices, cultural heritage.
"We don't just report on Akkar. We are Akkar — and we're building the media infrastructure this region deserves."
In May 2024 we registered as a formal LLC, hired a financial accountant, and established the operational foundations to grow sustainably. Despite a difficult funding gap in early 2025, we never stopped publishing.
Track Record
Our 2024 documentary "Basira" won the UNESCO Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage impact story competition and was screened at the Saudi Heritage Commission in Abha.
Documentary · 2024Omar Khaled represented SpotCast at GMF25 (Deutsche Welle, Bonn 2025) — joining a global platform for media innovation and independent journalism.
International · Bonn 2025Launched a 5-episode podcast series on electoral awareness and democratic participation in Akkar — alongside 30+ election-focused posts.
Podcast · 2025Registered as Spotcast Group s.a.r.l (Ministry of Justice, May 2024), demonstrating organizational maturity and legal accountability.
Legal · 2024Completed 2 training programs for young journalists and content creators with UNODC, SHIFT NGO, and Maharat Foundation — 2 more planned for 2026.
